What Dreams May Come..

I really wish I could have gone to Lollapalooza today. *sigh*

Edit: So I was driving down Lincoln from my friend’s place, singing “Karma Police” to myself, and lo-and-behold, “Karma Police” started playing on the radio. The torture!

Feeling Nostalgic

After my 30GB iPod died, I mourned my loss for a few weeks and eventually moved on to an 2GB iPod nano. Since then I’ve been content with shuffling through the 400-something of my favorite and most liked songs, but after opening my full music collection open fully for the first time in a long time, I realize that I so dearly miss being able to carry around my full music assemblage. I miss the random, oft missed song; the eclectic, mysterious B-side; the live version of that one song I kinda like. Is it time for me to put down the puny nano and step back up to an 80 GB big boy iPod?

5 songs on my iPod:

  1. “5 Months, 2 Weeks, 2 Days” - Louis Prima
  2. “My Adidas” - Run DMC
  3. “Like Spinning Plates” (Live) - Radiohead
  4. “Inertiatic E.S.P.” - The Mars Volta
  5. “Casino Queen” - Wilco

Hip-Hop (ad infinitum)

Went to Dillo Day at Northwestern yesterday, and I really, really regret not taking my camera with me. People were getting muddy, rockstars were rockin, rappers were flowin, and it was by the lakefront. As for the performances, they were all solid.

  • I didn’t get to see 3rd Eye Blind or Ted Leo and the Pharmacists (we got there late; I was really looking forward to seeing Ted Leo, but oh well). :-(
  • Broken Social Scene was okay — I nodded my head through their whole set, just hoping to hear “Windsurfing Nation” or something from “You Forgot It In People” (and Amy Millan of The Stars granted my wish, with “Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old Girl”).
  • The Cool Kids were awesome. Dave got really drunk and was screaming lyrics along with them, while we all laughed at him and awkwardly got our shoes muddy.
  • Last, but not least, Common played a really tight set. We moved into the mud pit since our shoes were already dirty. He did a couple hits from “Be” and “Finding Forever,” and did a lil freestyle about Northwestern — which went over my head since I go to Illinois. All-in-all, he bit off a few too many Kanye songs for my liking, but he still gave an awesome performance and had the crowd eating out of his hands.
