Paper Planes Revisit
I found out about M.I.A. last fall, but didn’t really get into it until later on in the semester.
She’s got this really unique sound, some original mix of sri lanken music, rap, electronica, hiphop, pop, tribal, et cetera, et cetera. I really like it. Here’s her video for paper planes (god damn WPGU for overplaying it though).
Futurama-rama
I’ve already watched the new futurama movie three freakin’ times — its soo good! I’ve probably seen each episode of all five seasons four or more times.
Overall, the series is fantastic. The jokes are full of humor and cunning, the stories enthrall / engage, and the characters have their respective wit and charm. Here’s my top 3 favorite episodes:
1) “Parasites Lost” - Season 3, Episode 4
Gumbercules? I love that guy!
2) “Jurrasic Bark” - Season 5, Episode 2
It’s dolemite, baby!
3) “Amazon Women in the Mood” - Season 3 Episode 5
We no can dunk, but good fundamentals. That more fun to watch.
Notable Mention: “Brannigan Begin Again” - Season 2, Episode 6
So it’s mutiny, is it? I thought I’d never see the day..
How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?
I spent a few hours last night watching “The Sound of Music” with my mom. I know — pretty lame for a college student at home in Chicago on a Saturday night. But anyway, while I was watching/surfing the net, I came accross this website about the real story behind the Von Trapp Family Singers:
300
I present to you today the first of many movie reviews to come to my humble little website.
On Saturday I had the good fortune (along with a group of my closest friends) to see ‘300′. Now I’ll admit I’ve been looking forward to this film for a long time, and following any new developments closely. I’ve had faith in Zack Snyder from the beginning as I really liked his previous project; the remake of ‘Dawn of the Dead’, but still I attempted to walk into ‘300′ without bias. So, after sitting for 2 hours and taking it all in, I was happy from the feeling that all my coverage hadn’t been a waste of time. ‘300′ is an epic and brutal film that perfectly encapsulates Frank Millers graphic novel. ‘300′ really does live up to the hype and visually looks like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It’s combination of unique visual style, old-school storytelling, graphic and exciting battle scenes and just straight-up balls-to-the-wall action make it near unmissable on the big screen.
